In case you missed it, our primary meeting location is under renovation and will not be available to us for approximately the next year. Scouting For Food 2015

posted Nov 12, 2015, 12:41 PM by Russell Bishop   [ updated Aug 30, 2017, 3:12 PM ]

What is Scouting For Food?
A Cub Scout promises to help other people at all times. By participating in a Scouting for Food program, Scouts come a step closer to fulfilling those words. In Chester County Council, packs, troops, and crews are involved with hundreds of Scouts to collect food and distribute to their local hungry neighbors.

This year, the campaign in Chester County runs from the November 14th when the Scouts drop off bags on their neighbors doors, to November 21st when they return to those same homes and pick up the bags. In Parkesburg once the bags have been picked up, and the total items counted, the Scouts will deliver them to the Chester County Food Bank.

Did you know…

· 1 out of 10 = the number of people in Chester County that go without a meal because they can’t afford to buy food.

· 20% = the percentage of school aged kids in Chester County that depend on lunch as their best, sometimes only, meal of the day.

· 50% = the increase in the number of people going to food banks in Chester County since January 2010.

-----------------------------------------------

Saturday, November 14 - Bag Drop Off. Please meet at the gazebo in Minch Park. We will divide up into four groups, grab our bags, and head out to hang them on doors.  Please see the map for group canvas areas. Parent volunteers will be needed to help chaperon the groups.

Saturday, November 21 - Bag Pickup day.  Please meet at the gazebo in Minch Park. We will once again divide up into four groups, assign a pickup vehicle for each group, and then head out to pick up our filled bags. We need volunteers with vehicles to help pickup the bags. All bags will be brought back to a designated location (TBD), items will be broken into bags of five items each to allow for easier counting, and then loaded back onto one vehicle for delivery to the Chester County Food bag. We will need volunteers to help unload at the food bank.

All Food collected will go to the Chester County Food Bank!
